Useless post

Today I did a lot of useful things. I went to the uni to talk with Marco (the PhD student who is keeping an eye on me at the moment and who has to work on Autonomic Computing too [my thesis is about Autonomic Computing of course]) and to show him an idea of architecture for the autonomic compnente. Then I gave Aresius the DVDs I had to bring him. Then I got some batteries (for the hi-fi remote, for the thermometer and for the small Oregon Scientific weather station which monitors temperature, humidity etc.).
After that I went to FNAC where first of all I got a ticket for the Blind Guardian’s concert taking place tomorrow. I listened to the new album a bit but I didn’t like it much, but anyway they’ll certainly play something from Nightfall in Middle Earth and so it’s ok.
Then I looked for that damned Cyan Canon cartridge for my printer, but it seems like nobody is using Magenta (there were like 10) and everybody is using Cyan, which doesn’t seem to exist since the end of August. Not even at Mondadori’s (but I didn’t check there today ’cause it’s closed on Monday morning). Oh well. After that I took a look at the library section and found out that the last book of Terry Brooks’s trilogy “High Druid of Shannara” is finally out in paperback edition, so I bought the whole trilogy. Indeed you have to know that I have the whole Shannara series in paperback edition, and the books look so nice all together, so I never wanted to buy the hard-cover editions (which are the first that get released). And Terry has a way of brutally leaving the story incomplete at the end of each book, so I waited until all the three books were out in soft-cover edition. And last but not least I bought a couple of DVD-RW because for arcane reasons mine stopped being rewritable or erasable. On the other hand I have two DVD+RW, which I have been using for ages to record TV series to watch on my divx player in my bedroom, which still work perfectly. So you’ll wonder: what do you need the -RW for then? Easy, the DVD-recorder in the living room only reads and writes -R and -RW…
After leaving FNAC I went to the Touring Club Italiano’s library and got me a Moscow guide. This is a terrific excerpt from it:
“Other menaces come from local drivers who don’t take pedestrians into consideration and from manholes, who tend to swing or break when you walk on them”.
Oh yeah!
